This week’s episode of Friday Focus is dedicated exclusively to discussing the congressional testimony of the presidents of some of America’s leading universities and why they were unwilling to assert that advocating for the genocide of Jews on their campuses contravenes their organizations’ codes of conduct. What does this episode tell us about the state of higher education in North America? Are universities at risk of losing their social licence and public funding when they seem unable to provide leadership on moral questions that the rest of society deems settled? Is the independence of higher education a given going forward in light of these revelations?
