Friday Focus – War on Hamas & Carbon Tax
This week’s Friday Focus starts off with a recap of Israel’s war on Hamas. What have we seen in the past seven days in terms of new developments and trends in the conflict? Why is the border crossing in Egypt only allowing a trickle of dual passport holders and critically injured civilians out? And has the time for hostage releases passed as the conflict ramps up given the complete absence of any movement by Hamas despite multiple rumours of handovers being actively negotiated by Qatar? The second half of the program looks at what is happening in Canada to the Federal Government’s signature initiative to fight climate change or a carbon tax. Are the recently announced exemptions of home heating fuel in some areas of the country the beginning of the end of what was considered by many to be world-leading model for carbon taxes?
