Ayelet Shaked is an Israeli politician, activist, and software engineer, who most recently served as Minister of Interior until December 2022. She also previously served as Minister of Justice and as a member of the Security Cabinet.

Shaked began her career in Tel Aviv’s high-tech industry, working as an engineer at Texas Instruments for over a decade. In 2010, she entered public life by co-founding the “My Israel” movement, which grew to be one of Israel’s largest grassroots campaigns.

In 2013, Shaked formally entered Israeli politics and won election to the Knesset with The Jewish Home party. Within only two years, she rose to become Israel’s Minister of Justice, where she spearheaded unprecedented reforms of the legal system, and worked to counter the international legal and economic campaigns against Israel.

Following the formation of the Israeli government in 2021 – which was the most diverse in its history – Shaked was appointed as Minister of Interior, where she worked on urban development and immigration. Shaked left the Knesset and in December 2022. She is regarded as one of Israel’s most consequential legislators in the past decade and is the only secular woman to have ever led an orthodox party.

Shaked currently serves as the Chair of the Friends of Schneider Children’s Medical Center.
