James Carville is a best-selling author, actor, producer, talk-show host, professor, restaurateur and one of America’s best-known political consultants. He became a household name after helping Bill Clinton, then governor of Arkansas, win the American presidential election in 1992.

In recent years, Carville has largely eschewed American politicians and candidates in favour of focusing on campaigns in more than 23 countries around the globe.

Carville, who grew up in Louisiana, is widely known as the “Ragin’ Cajun.” He holds a bachelor of science and a law degree from Louisiana State University, and served in the United States Marine Corps.

As an author, Carville is best known for We’re Still Right, They’re Still Wrong: The Democrats’ Case for 2016; It’s the Middle Class, Stupid!; and All’s Fair: Love, War, and Running for President, which he wrote with his wife, Mary Matalin, a political consultant known for her work with the Republican Party.

Along with pollster Stanley Greenberg, Carville founded Democracy Corps, an independent, non-profit polling organization dedicated to making government more responsive to the American people.

He currently serves as a professor Tulane University, in New Orleans, where he lives with Matalin and their two daughters.
