Munk Dialogue with James Bessen

AI and the future of work.

Some experts believe that over 300 million jobs worldwide will be automated by AI, with white collar professions in advanced economies being most affected by AI bots like ChatGPT. Radiologists, lawyers, coders, you name it – if you sit at a computer for work, you can expect to have some of your tasks completed by artificial intelligence.

To get a closer look at just exactly how AI will transform the labour market, we’re talking to James Bessen. James is a Fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society, and an expert on how automation affects the workplace. We want to ask him: will robots steal our jobs?

“AI is going to change the nature of work. It’s going to give you and I better tools to do our jobs that make us more productive. There may be elimination of some jobs, but it will also create other jobs.”

-JAMES BESSEN
